KISS

MAY 17, 2012 - KISS
After researching Motown Records, which follows the KISS principle, I learned the following from Wikipedia:
KISS is an acronym for the design principle articulated by Kelly Johnson, Keep it simple, Stupid!. Variations include “keep it short and simple”, “keep it simple sir”, “keep it simple or be stupid”, “keep it simple and stupid”, “keep it simple and straightforward” or “keep it simple and sincere.” The KISS principle states that most systems work best if they are kept simple rather than made complex, therefore simplicity should be a key goal in design and unnecessary complexity should be avoided.
I wanted to illustrate my findings with this two-part series and show how obsessed I am with lips and this current color combination of black, red, and white
Keep it simple, stupid.

Coco Rocha werqing it. Aspiring models should take note: this is harder than Coco makes it look.

La Lucertola

You cannot comprehend how much I love this song.

Also, fair warning, this is TOTALLY NSFW but I love Ennio Morricone (where has this man been all my life? why did I not realize/know more about him before?) and his composition for the soundtrack of Una Lucertola Con La Pelle Di Donna, which is a giallo and therefore probably something I don't have the guts (lol) to watch anytime soon. But just listening to "La Lucertola" and watching the clips from it in the video below is fine with me; it's so mesmerizing, lush, decadent, and debauched.

Adobe Creative Cloud

Adobe Creative Cloud means being able to have access to Adobe's master collection--all their apps (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, Fireworks, etc.)--wherever you go--for $50 a month.*

Holy shit.

Now the question is--do I want to invest in such a huge deal and pay $600 per year to get access to Adobe's master collection no matter where I go/what computer I'm accessing and be able to seamlessly share and integrate my work? Is that worth the investment? Or should I just go with buying Adobe CS6?

But money aside, can we just marvel at this brilliant idea--an Adobe cloud? Damn.

*Also, if you're a student or educator, you can get a monthly membership of $29.99.

balancing act

There is such a thin, nebulously-drawn line between my “work” and my “personal” life. It’s all very hazy when I try to differentiate the two sometimes, since they’re so closely related for me. The people I love are the people I work with, the things I love are the things I work for, and so forth.

This kind of lifestyle is designed to include both extremities—terrific catastrophe and euphoric happiness—and sure enough, I walk the fine line between the two—precariously, of course.

Yes.

Abre Los Ojos

I'm always inspired in the middle of the night. Finished this around 1:34 a.m. this morning. Totally forgot that I needed to add who directed the film. Oops.
